Power Dynamics In Marriage

Power dynamics refer to how power is distributed and used within a relationship or group. It's about who has influence, control, and decision-making authority. Power dynamics in a marriage determine who holds influence in decisions and actions in the marriage. Unequal power can lead to emotional distress, conflict, and even abuse, while when both partners have equal say and respect in a marriage, the relationship becomes much happier and more successful.

There are some healthy and unhealthy dynamics in marriage as well. Healthy dynamics can include: Both partners have equal say, respect each other, and communicate openly. Decisions are shared, and each person's contributions are valued. While unhealthy power dynamics can include: One partner controls the other through money, emotions, or isolation. There's a lack of respect, and decisions are made without equal input.

Culture and traditions  heavily influence how husbands and wives act. Some places expect men to work and women to stay home, based on tradition. Others encourage equal roles. These cultural rules decide who works and who cares for kids, and these roles vary a lot worldwide.

Rigid gender roles can also create inequality. Strict gender rules mean fewer choices, which creates inequality. If men have to work and women have to stay home, it limits their chances. This results in men having more power at work, and women taking on all the family work, no matter their abilities, talents and interests.

A strong marriage thrives on equality. Talk openly, share decisions, and value each other's input. Split responsibilities fairly, respect boundaries, and offer support. If problems arise, seek help together. A balanced marriage means both partners feel heard and respected, always.

Exhibition-Dowry

PYP - EXHIBITION Exhibition is a project and an event where learners choose a real life issue and share their understanding by performances, social media blogs and more. After 6 months of researching by taking interviews, surveys, field visits, hands on activities and internet. Children also have to pick an IB action type ( advocacy, social justice, social entrepreneurship, participation and lifestyle choices) to represent their work. The exhibition helps learners to develop skills such as critical thinking, communication and collaboration. PYP exhibition is very important because it helps the learners develop skills and attributes that are essential for lifelong learning and becoming global citizens. My exhibition topic is gender inequality. I will be sharing my journey on @blogger.com and @instagram.com.  My topic's IB td theme is who we are. Dowry- It's origin, purpose and the impact of awareness

1.  How did the practice of dowry originate, and how has its purpose changed over time in different cultures? Dowry's beginnings are unclear, but it started in the pre-colonial era. It could include things like land or money for her new life of a bride.  Over time, in many places, dowry changed. Instead of helping the bride, it became a demand for money or valuable gifts from her family, often by the groom's family. This can cause huge financial problems and even violence if the bride's family can't pay. While dowry might still be a small, symbolic gift in some cultures, in others, it's become a harmful practice that treats women unfairly. 2. How can education and awareness help shift traditional gender expectations? Learning and understanding about gender equality can change how we think about traditional roles. When people are educated about stereotypes and their harm, they begin to challenge old ideas. Education empowers everyone to choose their own path, not...
