Exhibition-Dowry

PYP - EXHIBITION Exhibition is a project and an event where learners choose a real life issue and share their understanding by performances, social media blogs and more. After 6 months of researching by taking interviews, surveys, field visits, hands on activities and internet. Children also have to pick an IB action type ( advocacy, social justice, social entrepreneurship, participation and lifestyle choices) to represent their work. The exhibition helps learners to develop skills such as critical thinking, communication and collaboration. 1.  How did the practice of dowry originate, and how has its purpose changed over time in different cultures? Dowry's beginnings are unclear, but it started in the pre-colonial era. It could include things like land or money for her new life of a bride.  Over time, in many places, dowry changed. Instead of helping the bride, it became a demand for money or valuable gifts from her family, often by the groom's family. This can cause huge financial problems and even violence if the bride's family can't pay. While dowry might still be a small, symbolic gift in some cultures, in others, it's become a harmful practice that treats women unfairly. 2. How can education and awareness help shift traditional gender expectations? Learning and understanding about gender equality can change how we think about traditional roles. When people are educated about stereotypes and their harm, they begin to challenge old ideas. Education empowers everyone to choose their own path, not...
